Our Friend Inky

September 30, 2009 Leave a comment

inky4My human is worried about Inky. She saw Inky’s mom last night, and she said Inky is having a sort of relapse. He’s not eating and she thinks he didn’t pee yesterday. My human is hoping that maybe Inky peed behind the door or in the laundry basket like Odie did after he had urinary tract blockage. We are hoping that Inky does not have to be catheterized again.

Inky is an adopted cat. He is neutered and has a very loving home. Inky has lived with his family for 2 years, and he is their only pet.

To all Kind and Generous Humans…

Update: the fundraisers mentioned below have ended. Thank you to all who contributed to these worthy causes!

My favorite human has organized 2 fundraisers for very worthy causes. I, Violet, would like you to contribute money if you can, but even if you cannot make a monetary donation your contribution of prayers, good vibes and positive energy are also needed & appreciated!

inky3Help Inky the Cat Inky had a urinary tract blockage, which is a very serious condition for cats and can be fatal if not treated immedately. Inky was able to receive emergency treatment because of a loan, and now his family has to repay the loan so we are asking you to help them. Inky is still having some trouble, but we are hoping he does not have to be catheterized again. Read about Inky.

0908091207Feline Urgent Rescue & Rehabilitation (F.U.R.R.), or as we fondly refer to it – Terry’s Cats! Terry is a very nice lady who rescues cats and finds good homes for them. She pays for all their vet work and spay/neuter with her own money. Terry is an honest and humble lady, she works hard to help cats and people with cat problems. We know she needs extra funding and we are asking for donations to help her carry on this kitty rescue work.  Read about Terry & F.U.R.R. and about the kitties that are  waiting to be adopted!

RSCN0501There is also another fundraiser that we encourage you to support and that is Melba’s Rescues. Melba is a good friend of ours, and she has organized a feral trap/neuter/release project for a colony of  feral cats that are living behind a grocery store near one of her relative’s homes here in Union County. Melba and the volunteers helping her have socialized many of the kittens and have also found homes for them (see Mikie in the photo). Melba is a very nice lady, a good & generous person, and is always helping people and animals at her own expense. We know Melba appreciates and deserves your help.

Thank you all for your kindness and generosity!

It’s a Lazy Day…

Violet Peaking OutWell, it has been looking like rain for several days now, but nada. The grass is turning brown…even the weeds are having a tough time. Think of all the poor little critters trying to survive. My favorite servant puts bowls of water out around the back yard for them. All species are welcome to join in the hydration, but we wish those darn ‘possum would quit slobbering & leaving dirty nose prints all over the bowls….eewww…grrr…hisss… Oh, well. I guess ‘possum need love too.

Sunday morning Total Bummer

September 13, 2009 Leave a comment

My favorite human, Deb, had a distressing experience this morning. Her current job is as an independent Pet Sitter (this is how she supports me & and my associates in the manner in which we are accustomed). Well, this morning she was over at Carlene’s taking care of her 4 outside kitties, and noticed the kitties watching something in the woods down by the creek. It was a doe and a fawn! There was also another deer but it was mostly hidden behind the shrubs. Deb had her camera and managed to get a bad photo, and then she and the cats stood very still watching. Suddenly the doe became startled and ran off into the woods with her fawn, and the other deer ran off in another direction.

Deb & the cats were pondering the coolness of seeing this deer family, when all of a sudden they heard 3 gunshots in the not so far distance, coming from the direction in which the doe and her fawn had run. OMG 😦 This was very very distressing for Deb. She cannot stop thinking about it.

Please everyone send good vibes, positive energy, prayers or whatever it is you believe in to those poor deer. Hopefully they got away unscathed.

Purrs to Terry & her rescued kitties! Dewey was adopted today at the Blakeney Petsmart adoption event! Yeaaaa! We don’t have a photo of him, but he really does look like Dewey the Library Cat (in his early days 😉

Little Cheddar

Little Cheddar

Also, little Cheddar has what looks like a really good home lined up. We will know for sure as soon as Terry does a home visit.

Good news update! Cheddar has been adopted, too!

Little Jack

Little Jack

Here is Cheddar’s brother, Jack. Jack is still waiting for his furever home. He is very very sweet! They have another brother, Colby, who has already been adopted. ♥♥♥Keeping paws crossed so Jack gets his furever home soon! ♥♥♥

A Word about My Associates

Proper etiquette requires me to mention my closest associates…

KyleFirst, there’s Kyle, a rather “largish” tuxedo cat. Kyle & his brother, Sweet Pea (rip), were the first feline residents here. In fact, they were born on the sofa. Kyle is 7;

Toby

Then there’s Toby who is a big linx point with blue eyes. He’s 4. Toby came from a high kill shelter when he was about 6 months old. Toby is currently on Prozac because he had spraying issues.

OdieOdie is all black and shiney with bright amber eyes. He is our youngest feline associate. Odie is a fraidy cat, but loves our human and all other cats. Odie is 2, and he has urinary tract problems when he gets too stressed out.

JellyBeanJellybean is our oldest associate; she’s 10. She’s was found under the neighbor’s truck. She was skinny & fell over when she tried to walk. Our human threw away the drugs prescribed by the vet because they weren’t helping, then nursed her back to health with several holistic concoctions and homemade organic food. That was 4 years ago. Jelly is the only one of us that Tweets on Twitter, and she is currently on a diet to lose some weight.

Little KittyLittle Kitty (uh, very original) is blue & white and really does not like to associate with the rest of us cats, but she loves our human. She was abandoned by the neighbors behind us when they moved, and was very skinny & pissed off (& rightly so) when Deb discovered she’d been left. Little Kitty lives outside and never leaves our yard. Little Kitty is 7 or 8 now.

We have 2 human servants, Deb & Bill (more about them later).

We have a good life in a big house with lots of food.
